Cantanhede’s Museum of Art and Collecting (MACC) withholds a vast collection of archaeological and crafted artefacts representing cultures and civilisations from all around the world. This room, where visitors can find a large central showcase display with lower archive drawers and different explanatory maps on the walls, seeks to “evoke” archaeological testimonies from Cantanhede and Portugal to the rest of the world: Europe and the Mediterranean Basin; the Middle East; India and Southeast Asia, China and Japan; Oceania; Africa and the Americas. Inside the central showcase, an attempt has been made to establish a vertical chronological sequence in which the oldest pieces are located near the base of the sequence and the youngest progressively higher up.
